gnome applications don't start on my kubuntu 6.10

Hi to all!

I've installed Kubuntu 6.10 few days ago on my pc (equipped with an athlon thunderbird 1GHz, 640MB of RAM) and I've solved every problem I encountered except one:

Some gnome applications like Dia, or Iagno, Gnometris ecc... ecc... don't start. Or better: once launced an empty window appears on the screen and I've to wait about 2 ~ 3 minutes before the program starts effectively...

Anyone may have an idea of what is the problem? Any suggestion?
