[kopete] no webcam displays

I'm trying to get my webcam in Kopete working. It shows up in the configuration tab without any problem, but when I try to send the stream nothing happens. There's no confirmation that video is sending (although I admit I don't know if there should be) and there's no display of the video which I would expect. The same goes for receiving video --- nothing happens. No errors, no messages, no video displays. From the feedback I get from the people on the other end, when they send video their side seems to think it works even though I don't see anything. I don't even see where I should see something (like, not even a blank box or something). What might be causing this and how can I fix it?
