libiconv problem while compiling

OK, then, I am not sure whether this is the proper location for this thread, but here goes...

I just tried to install the new KDE using Konstruct; I did make install in meta/everything, and make shortly exited with:

gconvert.c:48:2: #error GNU libiconv not in use but included iconv.h is from libiconv

...and a series of cascading errors afterwards.

Now, naturally I have GNU libiconv; what gives? Should I be using some other version?

My original installation was SuSE 9.1, but I have messed with it repeatedly since (the current kernel is 2.6.12.3) and never had that issue before...

Thanks for all input in advance,
