Font Installer

I am using KDE, Release 3.5.3, which is part of my Mepis 6.0 distribution. A site at http://www-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/doc/s…en/ch01s04.html
describes and shows a KDE Font Installer as part of SUSE Linux. The Installer's screen has these 3 columns: (1) font file name, (2) checkmark column to show the font's status as activated or deactivated, and (3) the font's English description. The site also mentions a "Deactivate" button.

My KDE Font Installer has 3 columns, but it has neither a "deactivate" button nor a checkmark column. My installer's 3 columns are "Name," "Size," and "Type." Can someone please (1) explain this difference in the 2 Font Installers and (2) tell me how to get the font activation/deactivation capability. Thanks for your help.
