NEW DE (OADE) and we need your help!

Hello all I have joined this forum not only to learn this programming language but also to scout out developers and coders for a new and exciting open source project....

The project, OADE (or OAQDE) stands for Open Aqua Desktop Environment. And is exactly what it says it is. The goal of the project is to create a desktop environment which as closely as possible mimics all the features of the Aqua user interface found in Apple's OS X. I have been asked many times this simple question, which I will answer for those here who are wondering the same thing.....

WHY?

Well, for people who are new to any Operating System, it is important that the OS is a few things.... one of the most important to completely new users is the friendliness of the user interface. Windows has done well because the UI is pretty simple to the average user. OS X, although not as popular, can be learned extremely easily and without a hitch in a relatively short period of time. It is intuitive, and very friendly to the user. If one is to wish to learn Linux/UNIX/BSD (all POSIX OS's) and has had no previous experience, than it can become a bit of a nightmare with all the commands that need to be learned just to do simple tasks! And while this may be the drive for so many people to learn 'nix, it's also just as hurtful and discouraging to many new users. OADE is meant to change that. In OS X, their really isn't much need to use the command line (read: terminal) for common operations..... yet if one wishes to, they can. IN KDE, XFCE, Gnome and other DE's, it is very necessary to make the command line your friend as soon as humanly possible. The Terminal is not something to fear. It is a friend, but like any other friend, you can only fully trust and co-existed well with it if you get to know it gradually.

OADE is a project full of potential. If you are interested in becoming a helper for this project, please contact me at oaqde@yahoo.ca and tell me! This project depends on hardworking committed developers, and anybody would be really appreciated! Please contribute! for more information and project updates please visit our SourceForge Homepage at http://sourceforge.net/projects/oaui and hopefully we will see many supporters of this project soon!
