AMPM != ampm

Hi forum
Newbie here, pls be gentle.
KDE 3.3
System settings, Regional and accessability, Times & dates
Can select AMPM to display AM or PM alongside the time.
How do I get KDE to display that as "am" or "pm" (lowercase) ?
Perhaps in a conf file someplace.
