KDE install error messages

Please take pity on a Linux/KDE newbie. I'm trying to install KDE on my Gentoo 2..4.26-r9 box. I've run "emerge KDE" several times and keep getting the same error message:

!!!ERROR: x11=libs/gtk+-2.8.19 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1546: Called dyn_install
ebuild.sh, line 1020: Called src_install
gtk+-2.8.19.ebuild, line 131: Called die

!!! Installation failed
!!! If yo uneed support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relelvant.

I not sure how to correct this. Any suggestions would be helpful!

This is not a KDE problem, but a Gentoo problem. Query bugs.gentoo.org for this.
