[Kopete] Msn trouble

Hey all,

I know that there was a massive issue over problems with logging into the msn service using kopete last year and that that problem was fixed, but I'm getting the exact some problem again now.

The whole incorrect password issue, even thought its the correct password.

Is anybody else experiencing these issues or is it just me? Anyone know something that I should know regarding the msn service and kopete?

Much appreciated,
I_Mr_Euphony

I also have this problem. I've tried trillian on windows and received the same error.

I think its trouble with a few 3rd party IM's.

But it seems to still work if you go to the MSN connection pref and check to use HTTP method..

Hope that helps.

Solution

For me it is the same problem. The MSN plugin responds:

"The server is not available at the moment. Please try again later."

This can be tuned by selecting the "Connection>Use HTTP method" from the property of you MSN account. This works for me.

Kopete: 0.11.1 using KDE 3.5.2

This does seem to work, but once my sister (using amsn on windows) logs on (again with port 80), my kopete (gentoo, amd64) acts really wierd, mostly signing in and out lots but also not delivering messages.

Looks like bill's screwing with us :P

i'm having the same problem with kopete 0.12.2 under Debian Unstable. Also, with aMSN i have the problem. Connecting mostly doesn't work, and when I am connected, a lot of messages aren't send correctly, and I don't receive much too. GAIM doesn't seem to have the problem at the moment.

RE: [Kopete] Msn trouble

I can chat with another MSN account without problems.

This is using RPM here:

http://software.opensuse.org/download/re…0.12.2-2.1.html

but I think connection and chat with MSN worked for a long time. (I cannot do voice though)

How are you connected?

RE: [Kopete] Msn trouble

Let me add myself to the list ... MSN doesn't work for me with Kopete 0.12.3 (KDE 3.5.5 "release 45.1" openSUSE). It used to work but for about 4 .. 5 months now doesn't any more.

I tried the "http-method" and was playing with the standard server/port, without any visible changes. The butterfly flaps for a couple of seconds and then returns to be greyed out.
