[KOPETE] certificate verification of ssl jabber-connections

hi guys,

im currently using kopete v.0.11.1. when i try to connect to jabber.ulm.ccc.de via ccc i get a warnig-message that kopete cannot verify the certificate because of an invalid root-ca.

as described on http://jabber.ulm.ccc.de/howto.html (german), i imported the certificates needed for the verification into the certificate-management of kde.

maybe the information on their website is just deprecated, but that issue raises two questions:

- does kopete make use of these certificates that appear in kcontrol under "security & privacy" -> "encryption" -> "root-cas" (ssl-unterzeichner in german, last tab)?

- it would be very helpful to get a dialog with a "details"-button like in konqueror to view the certificate if verification fails. anyone mentioned that?

thanks and cheers!

sven

RE: [KOPETE] certificate verification of ssl jabber-connections

This problem seems to be known for a long time (see e.g. [kopete] 0.9.0 jabber+ssl+private cert = broken), but there is no statement from the developers about it and no info to be found. From comparison with the "psi" IM which also uses some version of qca-tls, I guess it's kopetes job to provide a list of certificates two qca-tls. So, kssl with it's ca-bundle.crt seems to be out of the game, but I cannot understand why kopete does not use the "SSL signers" list in "KDE control center / Security & Privacy / Crypto".
