hotplug and multiple kde X sessions
Hi,
I am wondering if someone has gotten this to work before. I run kde-3.5 on an ubuntu based laptop. My room mate and I both use KDE on different X desktops.
I know that KDE and X11 are not a very humble duo (memory wise). But, this is still very usable. There is an issue that I cannot get working properly.
I have a USB printer. When the printer is plugged when both KDE sessions are running simultaneously, it won't work. You need to shut down both sessions, and then, the queued jobs will print.
My two cent theory on the subject is that both KDE sessions start their own peripheral management guear and they both attempt to acquire the printer ressources at the same time and that this doesn't work very well.
Is there a way to either start kde without hotplug management or any other way to get the setup working gracefully with USB hotplug?
Thank you,
Emmanuel

You can disable the KDE Media manager: go to KControl, and select: KDE Components -> Service Manager and disable the KDE Media Manager there.

Thanks. That's pretty much the kind of answer I was looking for (even though I should have looked better before posting this thread).
