Screensaver problem KDE 3.5.4

I've set a screen saver to come on automatically after 2 minutes, with password needed to stop after 10 secs. the problem is, it doesn't. All that happens is the screen goes black, and when I restart, there's no password required. However if I use the "Lock Session" function on the main menu, all works as it should! Why won't it work automatically?

Ta!

screensaver !=

Hello,

I'm having the same problem, I've tried messing w/ xscreensaver, xscreensaver-demo to no affect. Also I've tried using xset -dpms, I didn't get any results from that either.

Any luck?

Odd quirk

It seems in the KDE's control center, that when i enable the powermanagment option, under Peripherals->Display, that my screensaver will work. If I disable this option, it will just automatically go to a blank screen. I have no idea what causes this response, will dig into some source and see if I can find anything.

Hope this helps. :)
