Switching to KDE from Gnome. Problems

Hi,

Ubuntu user, I have installed Kubuntu-Desktop and as far as I know all the files needed to run KDE (again, as far as I know), I can log into KDE fine but when I am there nothing from the KDE environment works.
The menu doesnt show any of the apps installed (Konqueror etc), the menu editor wont start up, Kcontrol doesnt have anything in the index, cant even start any apps using Alt-F2.
I dont know what I´m missing, I had installed KDE when I was using Hoary without any problems so I thought I knew what I was doing...obviously not .

Any ideas

TIA

Brian

RE: Switching to KDE from Gnome. Problems

Probably a bunch of missing libraries. Make sure that at least arts, kdelibs and kdebase are installed correctly. You might need to run the command 'kbuildsycoca' (in your own user account).
