Fn keys for my sound does not work :(

Hi!

I am using acer aspire 5024 laptop with Ubuntu installed. When i used my fn key + Up-arrow/down-arrow. it takes the volume up or down. Works like a charm. However, after installing KDE on it, it stopped working!! Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

fn key + left/right arrow adjust the brightness of the screen. That works just fine!! But not the sound! Someone suggested kmilo. I got that. Still nothing.
Any advice?
thanks

a little bit late but have you tried to select a different keyboard model:
Control Center > Regional & Accessibility > Keyboard Layout > Layout > Keyboard model ?
Debian Linux, mix of stable, testing and unstable; KDE with Compiz Fusion >=0.52 (git)
