Change link icons?

Is there a way to change the icon used by a symbolic link to an executable? The gear icon is nice, but I have links to several apps on my desktop and I'd like to make them a bit more program-specific. Thanks!

RE: Change link icons?

You should use *.desktop files instead of symbolic links. Because they allow you to set the desired icons, while symlinks do not. Just create a new shortcut to a new application from the context menu on your desktop (right mouse, Create New, Link To Application)
