kde 3.5.1 install on mandriva using konstruct

I have used konstruct to install kde3.5.1. It all went well after installing the files i had missing. The new kde3.5.1 directory is in my home/username folder. I've got the konstruct readme, done what is says up to the part where it says "most distributions start if you set it to the WINDOWMANAGER variable in your shell initializations"

What does the last bit say i'm supposed to do in laymans terms. ie painting by numbers instructions please
