[SOLVED] KWord + others not compiling

Hello. I am running KDE 3.5.1 on FC4. Something is going wrong during the build process for KOffice 1.4.2. ./configure does not return any errors. Neither do make or make install. When the install is done, KChart, KFormula, Kivio, and Karbon14 are the only apps that are actually compiled....and even they don't run properly. Am i missing something?

RE: KWord + others not compiling

Some questions for you: do you see any error output when running for example KChart? I suspect that KOffice's core libraries are not installed as well.

Can you reproduce this with the upcoming 1.5 release of KOffice? It's still in beta, but I wonder if the building process completes successfully with all components included. Then we have a pointer where to look exactly.

See http://www.koffice.org/announcements/announce-1.5-beta2.php

Thanks for the reply. When i click the KChart icon, I get the usual bouncing icon and then nothing. When i try to run it in Konsole, I just get nothing. I was hoping that running it in Konsole would give an error and i could see what was going on. I have not tried 1.5 yet. I'll do that and let ya know.

KOffice 1.5 beta 2 did about the same thing. Still no critical errors during ./configure.

In the configure output, do you see the line

Source code

1
checking if kword should be compiled... no

(and the other lines of the missing apps as well)?

Are you sure you're satisfying all dependencies?

I'd suggest to contact the KOffice developers about this issue (koffice-devel@kde.org). Maybe this issue can be fixed before 1.5 if it's not a local problem.

No i haven't seen that line. The only outstanding dependencies i have are progresql support for kexi and the plugin for kword to export to word perfect. Both are non-critical and both i don't care about.

Please paste the configure output somewhere on the web.

Still don't know what the problem was. I was able to find the rpm's in FC5 repositories after upgrading. Makes me think it had to be an outstanding dependency i was missing somehow. All is well now. Thanks for all the help!
