Lost My Computer, Network, and Trash Links

Hello all. I have been running Suse 10 OSS for a few months (now using 2.6.13-15.8). It is very stable and works well. Recently, I upgraded some software through Yast, and thereafter the clicking of Trash, My Computer, and Network icons on the KDE desktop produces an error stating "Malformed URL: trash:/" or media:/, or remote:/. My suspicion is that there is a symbolic link for each of these that has been either corrupted or deleted.

Any help with restoring these functions is very appreciated!

Thank you, ..pm

RE: Lost My Computer, Network, and Trash Links

Did you only upgrade kdebase and not the KDE library package? These 'protocols' were introduced since KDE 3.4. Probably you still have some old software around.

RE: Lost My Computer, Network, and Trash Links

Hello Bram, and thank you for your response. Yes, I have carefully checked that all KDE packages are of matching version level and up to date, including all libraries. I think that this is really a simple problem, if I could only locate the proper desktop links. Apparently, one can not just build new links, as these will also give the same errors.

I'm hoping someone with this former experience can shed some light on this for me (soon).

Thank you again for you help Bram, I do appreciate it!
