keyboard media keys config

Hey Everyone,

I'm using a no-name 104-key keyboard which has some extra media keys - for launching a browser or other application, changing volume, etc. I want to enable these keys, but I'm not sure how. I looked at some of the Xorg man pages and got thoroughly confused, and see that other KDE Forum users have had similar issues.

Is there a simple way to assign keypress events to trigger events in response? I can figure out what the KeyCode and Keysym values are for the keys I want to use by using xev.

I have tried using the KHotKeys module in the Regional & Accessibility settings menu, but KDE doesn't recognise the media keys, so I can't assign functions to them.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Saltire
