[kopete] error 53560

I have kopete configured to connect to groupwise instant messenger. I am able to login without any problems. Users can send me messages and I can reply to them. However, I cannot initiate a message to someone else. If I try and start the converstation I get "An error occurred when trying to start a chat: 53560".

freshly built gentoo system
kopete 0.10.4
kde 3.4.3
Novell Messenger MA 1.0.5
