Slooow login

Recently we have experienced very slow logins with KDE, averaging 7.5 minutes from the time the user clicks on 'login' to the time the window is fully populated. This is the case for all users. The problem seems to be with KDE since it doesn't exist with GNOME. Similarly, other processes, such as internet and LAN access, don't seem to be affected. This is on a machine running SuSE 9.3.

Any suggestions? Is there a KDE virus that needs stomping?
