Icons on the desktop too far apart from each other

Hi!

I've just installed KDE 3.5 and my desktop icons are too far apart from each other.
I like to use the "align to grid" setting on, and I wonder if there is a way to change the grid size so the icons go closer to each other.

Thx,

MVIL

I just found if you right mouse click on the desktop, and unselect `align to grid' you can then move them where you need - and as close as you need..

Once done, right mouse click again ad select `lock in place'.

OK, I found where to change the 'grid size'.

Look in ($HOME)/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals

In the section [DesktopIcons]

GridXSpacing=40

I am using KDE 3.5.1 and I have the same problem with Desktop Grid. I have done the above mentioned but:

1) Such an entry does not exist by default.
2) I Created the "GridXSpacing" entry and tried 2-3 different values (after the changes I was restrating my Desktop using crtl+alt+backspace) but it has no effects...

Any thoughts?
