KDE 3.5 and mp3 issue

I noticed that since kde 3.5 akode isn't part of kde multimedia.
This mean that no more mp3 isuses? Just install akode-mp3 something and mp3 is back to the game?
If this is not the case, istn't really a simplier way to resolve this annoynig thing?
I think that searching and downloadind all the kdemultimedia part from other repositories just because it's been compiled with mp3 is a little annoying.
Can't just be an extra pluging or something ?

I think that the level of difficulty playing mp3 files is related to the distribution you are running. For example on Kubuntu getting mp3s to play only required that I install a couple packages.

Good Luck.
