[kopete] How to get rid of recurring auto spellcheck?

[Kopete 0.11, KDE3.5, Suse 10]

Hi All,

I love Kopete, and it is a very good substitute for MSN without everything that annoyed me using MSN, except one thing..

Every new chat window I open, the automatic spell check is toggled. I cannot find a global option. See, I am Dutch, my friends are Dutch, and I run a US/English version of Linux. Constantly switching off that spelling option, starts to get boring.

Is there a way to make Kopete not spellcheck my messages to begin with?

Thanks for this great messenger client,
- Jorgen

Is this forum even active? It seems nobody replies on anything here.

Is there NO WAY to get rid of that spell checker? I mean, there ARE people who use English Linux but talk in their native language, you know ;-)

I used to have the exact same problem with KDE 3.4, but just updated to KDE 3.5, You can there go to Configure -> Behavior -> Chat and disable "Enable automatic spell checking". :)

Thanks a lot for this answer! I think that is why it is so hard to disable.

Kind of unlogical to put the "global" spell check of chatting in a KDE menu somewhere. A better option would be spell check feature per user, there are also english people on my list, so there it would be useful again.

But, thanks a lot for the tip, I am using KDE3.5 also, so the only thing stopping me from using Kopete is now solved.

Regards,
- Jorgen
