Hi!

I've just installed Debian fro amd64 on my new laptop and I have a problem with the "end session" window. I only have a basic window showing

End session for "username"
Logout Cancel


And I would like the window with the "end current session", "turn off computer" and "restart computer" options. The one with the dinosaur. How do I get it?

No, I'm using gdm. Because kdm does not let me in. I have no idea why, but when I enter my loign and password, the login window disappears... and then reappears. And I can never access the desktop.

Is the logout window part of kdm?
Then, does anyone know how to fix the problem of the login window?

Well, having session type kde checked does not change anything.
In fact, there is even another problem with kdm (I thought I had fixed it but it appeared again):
When kdm login screen first appears, I don't have any keyboard input: impossible to enter my username or my password. If I try to restart the X server, the problem still happens. If I change for console login, I can log in without any problem. As root, if I start kdm I get back to the login screnn where I can write my username and password. But then happens the original problem I mentioned in the forum.

Any clue?

Well, thanks anyway. The information about the relationship between kdm and the logout screen is already helpful.
I asked my question on the debian-amd64 list, I hope I will get some information there.
