how do I change the width setting of the kmenu icon?

hi, I changed my k menu icon to this image

but i don't know how to reconfigure the kmenu to stop it from squishing the above image into a square. It should be somewhere around 40 pixels high by 100 pixels wide, but it is being resized to a square around 40x40 px. How can I change this?
