KDED modules:failure in loading

I am trying to write a KDED module. Most of the stuff is copied from the test module in the kdelibs/kded. The compilation and installation completes successfully. There is a kded_histamined.(la & so) in $KDEDIR/lib/kde3 and a histamined.desktop in $KDEDIR/share/services/kded. Yet `dcop kded` does not show histamined in the daemon list. What could be the problem.
