KDE crashes with X.org "radeon" driver!

So I'm running gdm (hey, i like it better than kdm, ok?) on my new laptop to load KDE. It's got an ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 in it, and things work ok... so far.

When I load twm or gnome, everythings copasetic, but when gdm tries to load KDE, it crashes just before the "loading KDE" graphic. Mouse freezes, no keyboard, no ssh-into-the-machine-to-fix-it... nothing!

This doesn't happen when I run the X.org "vesa" driver. Any ideas?
