Kooka invalid socket error

Kooka's really great when it works but unortuantely I'm having a bit of trouble. When I start it up from the command line it detects the scanner fine but when I click Final Scan, the scanner makes a few noises and then does nothing. The scanning progress stays at 0% and in the command line I get this error/warning/message:

QSocketNotifier: invalid socket 16 and type 'Read', disabling...

I'm pretty sure my scanner's supported as it has worked before. Has anyone else encountered this problem or know what it might mean? Any help would be welcome.
