Bug in create new file dialog box?

Hi, semi-new to KDE here. I've ran it on SuSE 8.2 but now I have it set up on FBSD 5.4, and I love it, very flexable and hackable :D But one thing... This might be a bug, or it might be a setting that I messed up in configuring my system. When I right click on the Desktop or in Konqueror, and select "Create New", the only thing that comes up is "Link to Device" and in that, there is nothing. I rebooted and refreshed the Desktop, nothing, so it must be a bug or configuration file. Just so you know, I was messing around with user privliges in order to get my CD-ROM working in KDE and not just the console. It was a bitch, and I think I still need to set up the DVD/ CD-ROM burner :(

I checked this site, the FBSD site, and google to find nothing on this bug or configuration in KDE. Can anyone please help me because I need to create new files and folders in KDE but I seem not to be able to!? Thank you and peace.
