Konqueror 3.2.2 choking on name resolution when using external DNS servers

After a lot of tests I discovered that Konqueror 3.2.2 is choking on name
resolution when I use external DNS servers.
This only happens if there are a lot of images (more than about 10 images) on
the web pages and the browser is doing a lot of DNS lookups.
When DNS resolution is done via my IPCop router/firewall box Konqueror works just fine.
The IPCop box uses internally exactly the same DNS servers (202.27.184.3 , 202.27.184.3).

Example 1:
DNS 1: 202.27.184.3
DNS 2: 202.27.184.5
Browser: Konqueror 3.2.2
URL : www.transparent.co.nz
Result:
After 5 - 10 seconds the web page seems to be hanging.
When you type in a shell something like "host www.trademe.co.nz" it sits
there waiting and times out most of the time.

Example 2:
DNS 1: 192.168.1.1 (IP address of IPCop box)
Browser: Konqueror 3.2.2
URL : www.transparent.co.nz
Result:
Web page loads just fine.
Host lookup in shell works fine while web page loads.

Example 3:
DNS 1: 202.27.184.3
DNS 2: 202.27.184.5
Browser: Firefox, Mozilla, Internet Explorer
URL : www.transparent.co.nz
Result:
Web page loads just fine.
Host lookup in shell works fine while web page loads.

It looks to me that Konqueror is doing something special with DNS, maybe
starting up different threads and choking on it ?
Do other people have similar problems with Konqueror ?
