All windows appearing top left

Hopefully someone has seen the problem in that as I installed KDE 3.4.1 on top of my vanilla SUSE 9.0 system I noticed that as the files were being installed there was an X11 error - something like can't read the X11 something or other.

Now what I notice is that every new window that opens opens up in the top left of the screen.

Is there a simple file I can edit to stop the windows from always opening up in the top left of the screen? Or is it worth reinstalling the whole 3.4.1 KDE suite again?

One thing for sure is that linux really must make it easier to install stuff...

Any help would be greatly received.

Darren

I think one can change the window placement strategy in control center somewhere under Desktop
