Kopete on Windows, Do exist?

Good night friends, sorry me for I don't know how to speak English, am I using a translator, taste a lot of Kopete, would it like a lot that there was some version of him for Windows, I use Kurumin Linux (A Brazilian Distribution), do I also use Windows 2000, would it like a lot that they made a version win32, there would be some chance of that to be real in the future?

At the moment, there's no windows version of Kopete, at least not that I know of.

But chances are big that it will be available on windows some day.

The Kopete is the best! Other as trillian, gaim, miranda, etc... they don't arrive nor to the feet of Kopete. :D

only QT?

I tryed with cygwin/cygwin-kde to get Kopete run on windows, but it didn't work. And you need to run the cygwin-X system to use compiled kde-applications.
So whouldn't it be easier to get rid of the kde-libs and use only QT (which has a port for Windows/Mac as far as i know).

yes i know that it is a big project, but then kopete is a all-platform IM and not only linux/kde.

Kopete is the IM application of KDE. Thus it is logic that it uses kdelibs. This way, it achieves a nice integration into the KDE desktop.

At the moment (KDE 3.x), there isn't a native port of kdelibs for Windows (AFAIK). Since a short time, there is a GPL-version of Qt for Windows. That is the reason why the next major KDE release (KDE 4.0) also will run on Windows (most likely). And when kdelibs is ported, Kopete will most likely also be ported.

So it is quite likely there will be a Windows version of Kopete in a few years (KDE 4 is quite a large time away), together with many other KDE applications.

There is some source code availble already which possibly also runs on Windows. So you can try to compile it.
