how to set the default charset of konsole?

Hi,
I run gentoo and I recently switched my System to use UTF-8 as default charset for almost anything. However, this doesn't really work for konsole. It uses some ISO charset by default. When I set it to UTF-8 and save the settings, it will forget it again and the next time it'll be "Standard" again.
How does konsole know which charset to use by default? I'd like to change it very badly!

Thanks for any clue
