Kopete - missing LibXext?

Situation: trying to compile the latest Kopete on a new Mandriva 2005LE x86-64 installation.

Configure ends saying it can't find a working libXext. slocate libXext reveals

/usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6.4
/usr/X11R6/lib64/libXext.so.6
/usr/X11R6/lib64/libXext.so.6.4

What is Configure looking for, why can't it find it, and how can I make it find it?

Thanks for any help.....

You only have the library itself, but you are missing header files --- install proper development package (on my system it's called X11-devel and it should have similar name in Mandriva).
