Konqueror uses too much memory

I install Fedora core 3 on my laptop fujitsu-siemens p7010 (1.1 G CPU and 524M memory);
When I start Konqueror, it soon uses too much of memory (more than 50%), and the system slows down quickly. And sometimes even after I close the Knoqueror, it still lives in the memory and occupies the memory.
I wonder whether someone met such problem, or anyone have solutions for it.
thanks

RE: Konqueror uses too much memory

You should be more specific. When does it go wrong? Can you see a pattern (e.g. only in filemanager mode or in webbrowser mode). Does the Konsole spit out any useful information if you run it from there?

You may look with the process table (top or KSysGuard) which process takes all the memory. It's not strange that the memory keeps occupied when you close Konqueror, since this is an application which sticks in memory so you can load it faster next time.
