Text instead of icons in panel?

I'd like to replace the icons in the "main panel" with text (like Gnome). For instance, I'd like to replace the Kmenu icon with the word "Programs". Is there a way to do this? I searched KDE-app and KDE-look and found an app that looked like it might work (13249-kickermenu) but it would compile, then saw a post that said adding a "MenuText" line in "kickerrc", but this also didn't work.

Has anyone successfully added text to their main panel?

Thanks!

P.S. - What's up with the search function on this forum? It doesn't seem to work...
