cant disable in wizards dlg

i have a wizard dialog in my prog and kpushbuttons and qradiobuttons can not be setEnabled(false) from the constructor ....
e.g.:nextButton()->setEnabled(false); or rInstPkgSrc->setDisabled(true); simply do not have any effect...very weird... calls like setText work without a problem...
does anybody have similar problems or know a solution (or caould tell me at least why this happens)?
