kmail crazy composer windows

On starting Kmail it goes crazy and starts loads of composer windows, at leat 50 before I killed it. This only happens if I use fetchmail/procmail to download my email, the 'TO:' fields in the composer windows seem to be filled with spam-like email addresses. This however didn't happen when I was using kmail to access my POP server directly.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I can't find anything about it here or at bugs.kde.org

obviously this is very annoying as it renders kmail unusable.

Any ideas??

Maybe you have fetchmail/procmail write incoming messages into KMail's mail directory or the local mailbox you told KMail to use isn't locked properly (different lock mechanism used by KMail and procmail when accessing it)
