Konqueror crashes with SIGSEGV after upgrade to 3.4

Hi I hope someone can help me here Im not exactly new to linux but still on a big learning curve

Machine Compaq d510 with1 gb ram 2.2ghz cpu 260gb hdd SUSE 9.2 Pro

I have upgraded to 3.4 and have found that every time i start konqureor I get a SIGSEGV 11 error, this also happens in other kapps like starting consoles and control centre appears and then disappears without any error at all,

i have downgraded all packages to 3.3 and there is no problem running any apps but then when upgraded to 3.4 error reappears.

i have googled this error and found no mention of SIGSEGV for konq but many saying this is a possible hardware error, which I cannot agree with as the error does not appear in 3.3 at all.

Also to mention that after each successful install of the 3.4 environment the GNOME dissappears from the selection box at login, but if i start GDM on alternate TTY it runs without complaint, and can even run all the apps that 3.4 cant run.

Weird I cant find a solution and would like to use 3.4 but if it is this problematic no consoles or browser, I will have to downgrade again, and wait for the official poort from Novell/

Here is the BT from Konqueror

Not completely sure though, but it looks like a Qt problem.

Did you update Qt too?
What version do you use?

If you look at the top of the backtrace, you see this:
#7 0xb634be0d in defaultTable ()
from /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqsimple.so

Just a guess though as I can't read those backtraces very well.

Thanks for that, I will try to re install from the 3.4 directory I have on my hard drive or would it be better to re install from 3.3 distro cd? These bactraces wrk from the bottom up then ie the error at the top is the failing lib / object / program?

I do not understand backtraces very well myself, but I guess it's something like this:
The top line in the backtrace shows where the program crashed, it's not always the place where the error is though, then you have to "trace" back to find the error. But that would not be very easy with the backtraces you posted as they contain very little information.

For more information on backtraces:

Since the top in your backtraces show something related to Qt, then I guess that your version of Qt is not compatible with other software on your pc. In other words, one or more libraries might need an update.
