Question from a newb OSS programmer

Hello, I hope this is a good section to put this in.

I am completely new to open source software programming, but not to programming itself. I want to get involved with KDE and I believe that the best way to do this is to practice using SVN(hope that's correct). I also believe that I should start small and basically fix small things. I came across englishbreakfastnetwork.com and saw how it lists out spelling errors, and it also suggested other things that need fixed. It also said that spelling errors should in fact be corrected.

Do you think I should do this, or is it a waste of time. I would prefer to start this small, as the whole open source idea is just a completely new way of thinking for me, as all this time it has just been the opposite for me.

I've already been there, it doesn't directly answer my question. Should I submit fixes as simple as spelling errors in documentation (comments) for KDE, should I just submit it the normal way, is it worth it?
