Configure Kickoff

I liked the way Kickoff worked in KDE 4.0, where the hard drives attached to the system would show up under the Computer tab in Kickoff. After upgrading to 4.1, they no longer show up there, but show up in recently plugged devices instead. I restarted the computer entirely after upgrading to ensure everything took effect, and still no drives. Is there a way to get the drives to show up under the Computer tab again?

Also, is there a way to customize the contents of Kickoff? I have some applications that don't show up at all (Valknut).

Thanks!

Not to my knowledge, sorry.

Right-click on the menu button, then "Menu Editor".

along these lines, i thought in 4.0 kickoff had an option to change the number of entrees listed (effectively allow you to make it taller so scrolling up and down wasn't as necessary). is this option gone in 4.1 as well?

on another note, i wish bugs.kde.org was easier to search - i would search for a bug there and if it wasn't already in, request this feature again, but bug searching is virtually impossible for me using that UI. i can never find anything, or else i find everything!

The problem in 4.0 was (if i recall correctly), that kickoff could not be resized. I don't know of your mentioned option, but with resizing capabilities it shouldn't be necessary any more. But that's just an opinion, feel free to correct me. I never noticed such a function.

Regarding bugs.kde.org, i heard some complainst about that, but if you really know what you are looking for (which component, which module, crash, wishlist, etc), i can tell you what i do:
I select "Weekly summary statistics", the search for the app and get the total overview, and from there it is (mostly) simple. Problem is, you should have to know where the bug could be. Just my 2 cents. Feel free to tell me a better way ;)

Do you know why this feature was removed, and if it will be added again? I could add a new section to Applications for my devices, but I'd rather have a list that's generated on the fly by the system.

Thank you for the reply.
