Sound in Enemy Territory under KDE

I've got a peculiar problem that I haven't been able to put my finger on so I thought I'd ask around.

I love playing Enemy Territory. When I start the game under KDE I get no sound for some reason. If I start the game under Fluxbox for example then I need to run "echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss" and then sound will work fine, but not under KDE.

I love my KDE too and I would like to be able to stay put there when I want to play instead of having to switch into Fluxbox. I am using the built in sound on an ASUS A8N-SLI SE motherboard.

I have also played Quake 4 on this machine and there the sound will work fine even under KDE so it seems to be Enemy Territory that is the problem here.

Any ideas?

First, be sure to have latest patches for enemy teritory. The only thing that can block sound under kde is arts. See KDE control center -> sound & multimedia -> sound system. uncheck enable sound system.
