Disable Trash completely

I would like to disable TRASH completely. So that when I press DELETE button it is permanetly deleted AND not moved to 'trash'.
Yes I know I can do SHIFT+DEL or right click and choose delete, but that is ackward.

ps. Is this even possible? I know that in GNOME this is not possible

RE: Disable Trash completely

You can disable it in the Konqueror Settings -> Behavior Section.

RE: Disable Trash completely

In the BEHAVIOR section there is only the posibility of adding the DELETE context entry menu.
which means I would still need to right click on a file and then delete it. Which is even worse than SHIFT+DELETE.

I only need that when I press the DELETE key it would be permanetely deleted

in previous installations, you could point the thrash can to /dev/null.
Dunno it the new trash system accepts that.

another option: look in the key bindings configuration for the key binding that removes files. Change that key binding from shift-delete into delete.

right-clicking is really "awkward"? I can understand wanting to configure your settings so that KDE is more convenient, but is this really something you want to do? one single keystroke and whooosh? My suggestion is to enable 'Delete' and disable the confirmation "Do you reallly want to delete the file?" - this is very windowish!

but then the files still end up in the trash can ;)

not here they don't ...they're deleted.

once I saw a check box 'choosing delete will send to trash instead' but I think that was another OS.

in kde, the shortcut for delete points to your trash can, shift delete points to remove.
Like the topicstarter already stated.
