"kompare" : what settings does it need

Hi,
I have installed KDE 3.4.2-0 running on Fedora 3.
My question is about the proper system and/or KDE configuration
to use the application "Kompare".

When I run it as a "root", it works properly.
When I run it as a "user", it does not work,
the ERROR - KOMPARE message
"Could not find our KompareViewPart"
comes instead.

Can anybody advice how to modify properly the system/KDE configuration
files? What files, what variables?

Thanks.

Below I put the basic KDE settings active on a "user" account.

csh> kde-config -v

Qt: 3.3.4
KDE: 3.4.2-0.fc3.2 Red Hat
kde-config: 1.0

csh> kde-config --prefix

/usr

csh> env | grep -i kde

KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
KDEDIR=/usr
KDEDIRS=/opt/kde:/usr
KDE_MULTIHEAD=false
GTK_RC_FILES=/etc/gtk/gtkrc:/home/user/.gtkrc:/home/user/.kde/share/config/gtkrc
GTK2_RC_FILES=/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:/home/user/.gtkrc-2.0:/home/user/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0

RE: "kompare" : what settings does it need

Could you run the command kbuildsycoca (as user) and see if it works then?

Yes, I can.
It does not help.

csh> kbuildsycoca &
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca

csh> kompare ~/.cshrc ~/.bash
error message from "Kompare" :: "Could not find our KompareViewPart"

Thanks for reply.
