problem with kmail

after last update from slackware (current) my kmail 1.8 (kde 3.4) does not want to work anymore, it cannot activate pop3 processes and gives me this kind of error:

kmail: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Impossibile creare un io-slave:
klauncher ha detto: Errore durante il caricamento di "kio_pop3".

(in english)
kmail: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Impossible create a slave-io:
klauncher said: Error while loading "kio_pop3".

Have checked the kio_pop3 library and have found them in /opt/kde/lib/kde3 in this way:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1692 2005-04-19 03:03 /opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_pop3.la*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 53372 2005-04-19 03:59 /opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_pop3.so*

so the library seems to be ok......

Any idea to solve the problem?

Can you execute that kioslave from konqueror? You can check that with entering "pop3://username@server/" in the location-bar.

Are there other instances of kio_pop3 running? You can check that with entering

	Source code
1	ps aux \| grep kio_pop3 \| grep -v grep

Do you have the same version of kdeinit (kdelibs) and the pop3 kioslave (kdebase, but could be another package) installed?

ty for help.

have tried your first 2 test without success, so decided to download again (directly from kde site) the packages kdelibs, kdebase and kde-i18n-it.

Now everything works fine, may be something was wrong during previous update
