Dumped Kmail for Thunderbird

After months of trying to get kmail to match what thunderbird can do, I have given up & switched to thunderbird.
Specifically; thunderbird will display html messages with embedded gif animations properly with the animations working and placed in the body of the message as they are supposed to be. Kmail shows them only as attachments at the end of the message and will not show animated gifs animated, only as stills.
Kmail also degenerates this type of message so that the in-message-body animations are lost if the message is forwarded on. Kmail also will not display proper formatting (simple stuff like underlining) for a mime type: apple mail v 2.619 message.
Although it appears kmail should be capable of as-you-type spellchecking, I cannot figure out how to enable it. (See other post in this forum).

I would really RATHER use Kmail, it has better "look'n'feel" but the primary purpose of a mail program is to display email as the sender intended & it just doesn't seem capable of doing that.

If I am missing something here & there is some settings I can change to get Kmail up to par, please tell me. Otherwise, consider this user feedback which somebody should be paying attention to.

Do you have the view option "inline" activated for attachments?

Maybe it doesn't know about that format.

I am afraid the chance that a KMail developer reads this is very unlikely.

Where is this option? I have been all over the configure kmail settings & can't find it.

It appears this is so. but Mac is a pretty common system; I am assuming this is a standard Mac output format. T-bird reads it properly.

I figured that was the case. There seems to be no real way to send feedback to KDE except via bug reports. I have not had much success with bug reports.

While on the subject of kmail, how does one enable as-you-type spellchecking?

The best way really is to post a wish or bug in bugs.kde.org
It's not a fun thing to do though, but you can be assured that the program maintainers read them. They might not post a reply to them like in a forum, but they see what you post.

If you do want to get a little bit more feedback, try the kmail mailinglist.

It is still another different non standard format, anyone sending such a mail knows that the receipient might not be able to view it.

KMail developers could also be reached by posting to the kdepim-users mailinglist

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been away.

OK, I've tried the 'in line' setting on my sample email with animated gif's embedded in the message body which T-bird opens properly. I now have animated gif's working but they are still located as attachments at the end of the message instead of in the message body.

Is this fixable?
