Double-click Reverts Back to Single-Click Automatically

I have a problem with my mouse settings.
I normally use "Double-click to open files and folders (select icons on first click)" but for some reason, my mouse settings keeps reverting to "Single-click to open files and folders" after a while.

Does anyone else have this problem? or is it just me? Just curious :)
For those who do not know what I'm talking about:
Control Center -> Peripherals -> Mouse -> General -> Icons

Currently using KDE 3.2, on Redhat 9.0

i have this problem when i have to reboot after my system freezes. kde looses some of its settings.
