re: help with kmenu please!!!

hi vegetax,

i am not sure what distro or version of KDE you are using, but i found this option in KDE v3.1 on my Mdk 9.1 install, it should be the same or similar for you: KMenu | Configuration | Control Center then i expanded LookNFeel, then went to Icons. from there i clicked on the Advanced tab to see the Use of Icon dialog box, it has a choice there for me labeled "Panel" and a checkbox on the right for "Double-sized pixels", as well as a size box that is user-definable. check that these items are set to your liking. i hope that this helps solve your problem. :-)

Look at the file: kickerrc in your /home/user/.kde (or .kde3)/share/config/

Change MenuEntryHeight in the menus section in the size what you like.

Or look in /usr/share/config/kickerrc and change iconsize.

I recently upgraded to KDE 3.2 (actually reinstalled a whole new distro) and encountered this same problem.

In KDE 3.2, I navigate to the ICONS dialog and select the Advanced Tab. However when selecting Panels, the option to redefine the icon size is greyed out and non selectable.

So I modified the kickerrc files as mentioned, which works, except the icons in the menu now look crummy.

Hi all,

I too had this problem. All of a sudden the menu was HUGE, and there was no way to change it. I could change the font, icons, background, bitmap etc all right, but NOT the menu size.

(To be honest, I did upgrade Qt to 3.2 first and then to 3.3, and after the upgrade this happened, but I do not exactly know when because I only restarted KDE after upgrading to QT 3.3)

Contrary to an often advised solutiun, adding MenuEntryHeight entry to kickerrc did not work either.

What DID work, was renaming the ~/.kde folder and let KDE re-create it. I did this after I logged out and from a command prompt on TTY1.

A bonus was that some icons in the panel which never showed up correctly after upgrading from KDE 2 to KDE 3.2.3 now showed up fine.
:)

BTW, I am running Debian Sarge.
