I'm really (extremely) jealous of the GDM login--it's really purdy. I tried using it -- and it had a few kinks to work out, but i fixed most of them (xinerama, kde as deafult session)
now, i'm really wanting to have the KDE logout box that lets me Restart of turn off my computer. I don't want to have to see GDM again to shut it down.
Is there any way of achieving this feature without using KDM? preferably GDM because i'd like to make a few themes for it.
open a Terminal, and use the command "reboot", or "poweroff".
You could make one-liner scripts (one with a line that says "reboot") and then put it on your desktop, on the Panel... etc. and then just click the icon and it should reboot.
well, I haven't tried it but it should work in principle hehehe
No. I think it's the other way around. He wants to finish KDE without seeing GDM again.
Perhaps the developers of GDM and KDM should meet. I don't see a practicable solution.
GDM does not have such an option, so either use KDM of stick with the fact that you can only logut in GDM.
Other solution is to creat a button that executes the halt-command.
Be aware that session management doesn't work in that case.
