Installing New Fonts (RH 9.0 w/ KDE 3.1)

Using RedHat 9.0 I'm attempting to install a new icon set, but I'm running into some problems. All instructions I've found tell me to go to Look & Feel in my Command Center. Rather then finding a Look & Feel option I find an icons option. Clicking that I then click on Install New Theme. I'm then prompted to find my icon theme, when I do so, it says it isn't a valid icon theme.

Specifically what should I be linking to here? I'm a bit confused.

Thanks in advance.

what icon sets are you trying, and where are you getting them from?

i get all mine from kde-look and haven't had a problem. i always click the folder to find the tar file I downloaded, then I click install new theme. then you should see it in the list of available icon themes.

for example, the noia icons should work fine for you...they did for me. try them:

First of all ¨icons¨ is in ¨look and feel¨ so you just skipped a step.

Second many icon ¨themes¨ are actually not complete i.e. they do not have a .desktop file, only icons. You cannot install the icon set through the control center if their is no such file to describe the icon theme.

Instaling a complete icon set is pretty easy if you have the right file.
kde-look.org is definitly the place too look.

If you are using RedHat 9.0 and still having trouble I recommend installing apt4rpm from freshrpms.net.
Red Hat Linux add-on packages by Angles Puglisi is a great RPM source for kde themes (look at links on freshrpms.net)

Whatever you do install apt4rpm it will make your redhat life so much better (without it I would have dumped redhat a long time ago out of frustration)
